The lived experience of elementary teachers on the reasons of increasing Violence against teachers

Abstract

Unfortunately, on the recent years, we have been witnessing samples of violence against teachers from different sources. The purpose of the present study has been examination of elementary schools' teachers regarding the reasons of such a violence. The research method was qualitative with phenomenological approach. The statistical population included all elementary teachers of West Azerbaijan province, among them a sample of 20 people were selected purposefully and interviewed. Data analysis was performed through Smith method. Results for the firth question indicated that there 4 major themes, namely, violence due to policy deficiency, status and dignity destitution, family conditions and professional factors. For the second questions, 5 main themes derived including; violence due to policy deficiency, experience of physical violence, status and dignity destitution, family conditions and professional factors. Finally, for the third question, there were 4 major themes; violence due to policy deficiency, status and dignity destitution, family conditions, professional factors and the role of social media. Regarding the reasons for violence against teachers, the most emphasis was on policy deficiency and status and dignity destitution; so, it should be performed essential actions in order to alleviate these factors.
