The purpose of this study was to investigate the amount of attention to Lipman's critical thinking in elementary third grade social studies by content analysis method. The research method was descriptive content analysis and the statistical population of this study was third grade social studies textbook in academic year 2014-2015. Sample size is equal to community size. In this study, experts of different fields were used for face validity. The tools of this research are based on Lipman's Critical Thinking Model with 6 sub-components: questioning, analyzing and evaluating, reasoning, evaluating evidence and statements, data interpretation and sound judgment. The analysis unit consisted of all the sentences, pictures and questions in the book. The results of the analysis indicate that the third elementary school social studies textbook has received the most attention sub-category of analysis and evaluation, and the least attention has been paid to the component of sound judgment. Since it is important in daily life, more attention should be paid to it.
