Self-control is one of the thinking skills that helps children learn to control their feelings and behaviors in order to make a good decision, as well as helping to reduce impulsive and effective coping with frustration. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of self-control educational self-control philosophy on children's self-control in elementary school students in Yazd. The research method was quasi-experimental with pre-test-posttest design with control group and the statistical population included all fifth grade elementary students of Yazd in the academic year of 2018-19. The sample size consisted of 30 students selected by multistage random cluster sampling and assigned to two groups of experimental (15 subjects) and control (n = 15) with random allocation. The research instrument for collecting information was Humphrey's Children's Perceived Self-Control Questionnaire (1982). The concept of self-restraint was taught by children's philosophy teaching method (p4c) during 13 sessions of 60 minutes for the experimental group. The results of the hypothesis analysis through the analysis of covariance (significance level of 0.05) show that the concept of self-control of children and its dimensions (interpersonal self-control, individual self-control and self-evaluation) is effective in improving the concept of self-control of children by philosophy teaching method for children.
