Pathology of the Elementary School Curriculum from Production to Consumption Abstract

Abstract

The present study was conducted with the aim of pathology of the elementary school curriculum using a qualitative research method of phenomenological type and with semi-structured interviews with the authors of elementary textbooks from Educational Research and Planning Organization located in Tehran, heads of educational groups, teachers and the sixth grade students of Shiraz. Then, the data was analyzed using the theme analysis technique in Nvivo software (8.8) and after that, they were categorized into basic, organizing and comprehensive themes. Based on the findings of this research, harmful items were identified in seven classes in the primary school curriculum from production to consumption including ignored items, omitted items, obsolete items, distorted items, incompletely stated items, duplicate and redundant items and the items that have been declared prohibited.
