The purpose of this research was to investigate the nature, reason and howness of physical education in elementary schools from the student teachers’ perspectives . In order to achieve the above goal, descriptive phenomenology method was used. The field of research included male and female students (1000 people) who were in their last semesters in Farhangian University of Kerman in 1402. Research participants were selected via the purposeful sampling method and using the common rule of "theoretical saturation" in qualitative methods. The volume of research participants included 21 members of the research field. The method of data collection is semi-structured interview. Clayey's multi-stage model was used to analyze the data. In order to check the validity of the data obtained from the interviews, two criteria of validity and verifiability were used. The results were summarized in two main themes and twelve sub-themes. According to the results of this research, physical education means a scientific discipline with ontological interdiscipline relationships. Whyness includes interdisciplinary sub-themes and howness includes core sub-themes.
