Abstract

Background and objectives: The aim of this study was to predict the level of academic engagement based on academic enthusiasm. Methods: The design of the current research was quantitative, in terms of correlational and predictive research method. The statistical population of the present study included all the male and female students studying in the fourth, fifth, and sixth grades of secondary schools in Pakdasht urban area in the academic year of 1401-1402, numbering 19368. Among them, 440 people were selected by stratified random sampling. The research tools included Rio's academic engagement questionnaire and Scoufilli et al.'s academic enthusiasm questionnaire, and its validity and reliability were examined through the opinions of expert professors. Findings: The reliability rate (Cronbach's alpha) was also 0.86. The covariance analysis test showed that the dimensions of academic engagement (behavioral, causal, motivational and cognitive) can be predicted based on the components of academic enthusiasm (enthusiasm for education, dedication to education, attraction to education). Conclusion: it is possible to increase academic engagement with academic enthusiasm, which is the passion and desire of people and attracts them and devotes themselves to study, which ultimately improves academic performance and success of people.
