The Content Analysis of The Sixth Grade’s Persian Textbook of Elementary School (Writing and Reading Skills) Based on Gagne’s Learning Outcomes

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the content of Persian textbook (writing and reading skills) of the sixth grade of elementary school based on Gagne’s learning outcomes. The research method is descriptive and content analysis. The independent variables of this study are two textbooks of the sixth grade of an elementary school in the academic year 2016-2017. The statistical sample is also included the whole.;The analysis showed that in the textbooks, 454 components related to Gagné’s learning outcomes were identified (writing skills); the lowest percentage of motor skills of learning outcome is 86.4% and the largest number was related to the mental skills amounted to 96.46% (reading skills); the lowest frequency of outcome learning related to motor skills is 66.9% and the highest frequency which is 41.06% is related to verbal information.. More learning outcomes were observed in writing skills than reading ones. This study showed that the distribution of learning outcomes in these books is not the same and the mental learning outcomes have the most frequencies.
