Background and Purpose: The purpose of present study was to examine the effectiveness of training self -regulatory strategies (cognitive and meta cognitive) on the Academic engagement on Female Students.
Method: This study was a quasi-experimental research with pretest-posttest control group design. The population included all the 6th grade students’ female of Shiraz in the academic year 2023-2024. A random sample of 46students (23expremental and 23control groups) was selected by multi-stage clustering sampling. The experimental group received self-regulation strategies training in Fifteen 70-min sessions. Then both groups completed The Student Motivation And Engagement Scale (Martin, 2001) . ANCOVA was used for analyzing the data.
Results: Findings showed than the Self Regulation training was significant differences between experimental and control groups in Adaptive Behavioral dimension (F=7/10, P<0/01, maladaptive Behavioral dimension (F=25/46. P<0/01), maladaptive Cognitive dimension (F=3/55,. P<0/01). Both in Adaptive Cognitive dimension (F=3/55, P<0/01), no significant difference was observed in two groups.
Conclusion: In general, the implementation of this training program is recommended to increase motivational engagement and other variable related to academic achievement in first high school. Research implications for the educational systems to increase the student’s capabilities are discussed in this paper
